SSAA QLD at the World Action Pistol Championships

Day One

Shooters from around the globe have converged on Hamilton, New Zealand this week for the NRA Action Pistol World Championships, including our very own SSAA Queensland team.

The event was officially opened this morning by the Hon Nicole McKee, who marked the occasion with the firing of a cannon. In her address, Minister McKee acknowledged the long-standing friendship and shared sporting history between the SSAA and New Zealand shooting communities.

A six-person team is proudly representing SSAA Queensland after being selected on performance across recent events. They are joined by some other Australian competitors and will face strong opposition from the USA, Germany and the host nation.

A slight drizzle at the start of the first day didn’t dampen the spirits of any shooters. In fact, the stunning range at Hamilton is built to handle plenty of rain and even upgraded their ‘mover’ targets for the competition.

More scores to come soon and plenty of action is yet to unfold in the Championships which will continue across the next few days.
