Update from the SSAA Queensland 2026 AGM
Delegates from across Queensland gathered at the Captains Mountain Complex in Millmerran on September 12 and 13 for the SSAA (QLD.) Inc. 2026 Annual General Meeting. Most branches were represented in person, with others represented by proxy.
The executive was pleased to report that SSAA Queensland’s financial position remained strong and had continued to grow during the past financial year. The media team also reported on the success of The Report, which received praise from delegates, particularly those from SSAA Herberton.
The 2027 calendar and discipline chair appointments were confirmed. Guest speaker Greg Moon of IPSC spoke about the memorandum of understanding between SSAA Queensland and IPSC, and the opportunities it provides for IPSC shooting at our ranges.
One of the meeting’s highlights was the awarding of honorary life membership to Damion Faith in recognition of his extensive contribution to the shooting sports. Damion is a prolific Single Action shooter who has helped and influenced countless others throughout many years. He served as treasurer for about 12 years and has worked tirelessly to protect .45 calibre shooting. Regarded by many as a ‘godfather of Single Action shooting’ in Australia, he has also travelled internationally for the discipline and has a long history with its international body, SASS. His dedication to Single Action and to the wider shooting community makes this recognition thoroughly deserved. “I’m humbled, and very, very proud,” Damion said.

The executive committee was re-elected unopposed, with the exception of Michael Pommer, who sadly passed away just a few weeks before the AGM. A minute’s silence was held for Michael at the start of the meeting, and a tribute to him is on page 55. Paul Heiser was elected to fill the committee vacancy. I thank the incoming committee members for putting their hands up again. I also thank our members for placing their faith in us and for their continued support and commitment to SSAA Queensland.
