NomadIQ BBQ – Review

NomadIQ BBQ – Review

By Ted Springs

The NomadiQ BBQ is a portable gas grill designed for campers, travellers, and anyone short on space but keen on outdoor cooking. Weighing just 5.6kg, it folds into a compact shape with an included shoulder strap, making it easy to transport. The grill comes with drip trays, a gas hose, a pressure regulator and a manual – all you need is a standard disposable screw-type gas cylinder, which is available at most camping and hardware stores and you’re ready for hours of grilling anywhere.

Lightweight and portable – just 5.6kg with a shoulder strap included. Compact but powerful – the NomadiQ unfolds in seconds, ready to cook.

The NomadiQ makes it easy to whip up a quick meal just about anywhere.

One of the NomadiQ’s standout features is its dual-zone cooking system. Each side of the 24 x 24cm cooking surface can be heated independently, which is great for grilling different foods at different temperatures or keeping one side warm. The burners deliver a total output of 9,100 BTU, and the grill heats up to an average of 325°C within two to three minutes – quick enough for a spontaneous BBQ stop.

Set-up is straightforward: unlock, unfold, insert the drip trays, connect the gas and you’re ready to cook in less than a minute. Cleaning is equally as easy thanks to the ceramic-coated non-stick aluminium plates, which are rust-resistant and dishwasher safe. Its folding design and quick-cool body mean it can be packed away as soon as you’re done.

NomadiQ also offers bundles and alternative models, such as the E-BBQ, which plugs into mains power but is almost twice as heavy as the gas version. There’s also a Stove option, designed for direct cooking with pans rather than traditional grilling. One consideration is the need to carry a compatible gas cylinder, as it doesn’t connect directly to larger household bottles. However, this can be solved with the optional LCC27 to BOM adapter and 1.5m hose, which allow you to use a standard 9kg gas bottle, reducing the need for disposable cartridges and making use of a gas bottle that might be more readily available.

Prices for the standard gas model start at $499, placing it at the premium end of the market, though its build quality and portability help justify the cost. The E-BBQ version costs the same, but the Stove option is about half the price.

Overall, the NomadiQ BBQ delivers an excellent balance of portability, performance and ease of use – a smart companion for camping, road trips and beachside cooking.
