President’s Message

July 2026

From rimfire to Cannon, August is shaping up to be one of the busiest months on the SSAA Queensland calendar. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or looking to experience your first championship event, there has never been a better time to get involved.

The month will kick off with the Fly Championships at SSAA Innisfail from 31 July to 2 August before attention turns to the Field Rifle 4P and 3P Championships in Mackay and the Shotgun Championships at Stewartdale, both running from 14 to 16 August. The action continues with the Big Game Rifle Championships at Eidsvold from 21 to 23 August, followed by the United Field and Retrieving Championships at Stewartdale from 27 to 29 August. Rounding out a packed month are the Rifle Metallic Silhouette Open Shoot on 29 August and, proving there really is something for everyone, the Cannon Championships on 30 August.

One of the great strengths of SSAA Queensland is the incredible diversity of our disciplines. Whether your passion lies in precision rifle shooting, shotguns, hunting, working dogs or even historical artillery, our calendar offers opportunities to challenge yourself, meet fellow members and enjoy some friendly competition.

There is another way to be a champion this month without ever picking up a firearm. If you’re able to donate blood, I encourage you to join our Lifeblood Team, so far, we’ve saved over 600 lives in Queensland alone. Every donation has the potential to save lives, and our members continue to make an outstanding contribution. We are currently keeping up with some of Australia’s largest community groups, and every new donor helps show what a great community we have.

Whether you’re competing on the firing line or rolling up your sleeve for a blood donation, thank you for supporting your Association and your community. I hope to see many of you at one of our championship events throughout August.
