Field and Retrieving Queensland Cup 2024

Field and Retrieving Queensland Cup 2024

The SSAA United Field & Retrieving Branch Inc Queensland Retrieving Trial Championship for Gundogs was held on the weekend of the September 27-29, 2024 on a picturesque private property in the Dayboro, Queensland area.

A number of local and interstate competitors, and their dogs, entered this event, all vying for the Championship win and their place on ‘The Queensland Cup’. This prestigious perpetual trophy has been contested since the 1970s.

Our Judges, Mr Paul Hamson (NSW) and Mrs Edwena Adcock (Tasmania), put the entering teams through a challenging set of five runs in very steep terrain, combined with solid simulated duck hunting scenarios on the large dams and hills nestled in the end of a short valley.

Competitors, stewards, judges and particularly our SSAA UFR Management Committee, deserve congratulations for their comradery, sportsmanship and organisation exhibited throughout this significant event. The competition ran smoothly, with the Management Committee working together, as a team, to guarantee the success of this Queensland Championship.

The final winner, and this year’s deserving retrieving champion team is Mrs Margaret Sullivan (Qld) and her beautiful Labrador Retriever, ‘Tori’ – RTCD RTCH Roughwater Victoria.

We congratulate Margaret on this great achievement.
