SSAA Queensland

October Special Announcement
Members of SSAA Queensland will no longer have to pay an extra fee to receive the organisation’s shooting and hunting magazine. All members of the Association, except ‘Family Members’, where the household already receives a magazine, will receive 11 copies of The Report magazine a year, valued at more than $75 at no extra cost. The decision was made at the 2025 SSAA Queensland Annual General Meeting at Captains Mountain in September.
SSAA Inc had recently increased the other state’s adult membership from $100 to $105 but also increased the cost of receiving a printed magazine from $15 to $25 extra. The Queensland conference rejected the suggested increase in printed magazine supply fees and instead chose to return to the model where almost all members receive the magazine as part of their membership. It was decided the steep increase was not justifiable, particularly during the current cost of living crisis.
“The Association’s magazine has always played a key role in the way we inform and educate our members,” SSAA Queensland General Manager Bob Green said. “And now that we have our own magazine, like we did many years ago, we can communicate with our members even more about local issues, events and of course what is happening on the political front.”
More than 75 delegates, observers and staff attended the AGM. It was an opportunity to discuss the achievements and challenges of the past 12 months and to swap stories in between the formal discussions with fellow shooters from across the vast state.
Other key decisions made at the meeting were to pursue international shooting competition opportunities for Queensland competitors and to seek legal advice in relation to external organisations spreading misinformation about SSAA Queensland.
The conference heard that the Association was in a very strong financial position and was enjoying steady membership growth, having tipped over the 80,000-member milestone.
