We are excited to welcome our newest SSAA Queensland / Australian Shooters Alliance team member, Sam Talbot!

You might actually remember him from around five years ago, when he was the Communications Officer at SSAA Inc, for several years! He played a key role in managing multimedia projects, including photography, videography, animations, and launching a number of digital and social media platforms. Sam is really well known for his journalism, review and storytelling skills, especially the Talbot on Target series, where he was lucky enough to try his hand at every single SSAA discipline and create a beloved series. 

Over the last few years, he has gained even more experience, graduating from his law degree and even studying at QUT while working last year. He initially left us to be a breakfast radio host before becoming an audio producer on one of the biggest shows in the country. After doing that for a few years and right up until starting with us yesterday, Sam worked as a radio journalist, working alongside regional journalists around the country to make weekly news podcasts – one of those ‘pods’ even won ‘Best News Podcast’ at last year’s Aus/NZ Podcast awards!

We’re thrilled to have him on board, where he will be charged with wearing many different hats again under the official title of Specialist Media Officer. You will see his name pop up a lot more again as he hits the ground running. He will be assisting with media creation – general interest, political, shooting articles, reports, reviews, interviews, as well as photography, video and social media/podcasts, helping make our marketing campaigns amazing, as well as internal and external communications in general, plus he will mentor junior staff as our team continues to grow.
