Benchrest - Hunter Class
Hunter Benchrest shooting is a rifle sport, it differs principally from Benchrest in that the aim is to shoot a score rather than form a small group randomly on the target. Hunter Class Benchrest tests the accuracy and precision of the rifle, ammunition and the shooter's skills, particularly with regard to position, technique and reading of conditions.
A hunter rifle is also different with weight and scope power restrictions.
Rifles are fired from rests which comprise a front rest to support the fore-end of the rifle, and a rear sandbag to support the butt.
There are 2 main sections in Hunter class:
- Rimfire; and
SSAA Qld supports Hunter class as a separate discipline to State Level because of its differences and popularity. At National Level it is part of the overall Benchrest discipline.
