Running Target - also known as Running Boar - events involve engaging a moving target with a scoped air rifle.

Typically shot at a range of 10m, the event was developed in the late 1980’s as a replacement for the Olympic 50m Running Boar event, which was shot with a .22 calibre rifle.

In 10m Running Target events, a target is pulled horizontally across a 2m wide gap at a distance of 10m away from the shooter, typically visible for between 2.5 to 5 seconds depending on the speed and the event.

Running Target matches featured in the Olympics between 1991 and 2004 and had a large following. While no longer an Olympic competition, Running Target is still an internationally recognised event and World Championships are held each year.
