Katter calls for consultation as NFA Review leaves much to be desired

With the National Firearms Agreement (NFA) set to be discussed at the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting very soon, Katter’s Australian Party (KAP) has publically echoed the concerns of sporting shooters calling for licensed firearm owners to be included in the “biggest gun laws reform since the Howard era”.

SSAA Mackay Lands Council Donation For Club Projects

The SSAA Mackay Branch in Queensland has landed a cash windfall thanks to a contribution of $210,000 by the Mackay Regional Council. As part of the council’s $3 million investment campaign to improve sporting and community infrastructure throughout the area, the club was one of 13 organisations chosen to receive the financial helping hand in December 2015. The money was meted out with the proviso that the SSAA club could also contribute its own funds.

Leyonhjelm to Perrett: apologise to shooters

Labor's Shadow Minister for Justice, Graham Perrett should apologise immediately to 1200 law-abiding firearms owners who he effectively labelled criminals in an error riddled media release, according to Liberal Democrat Senator David Leyonhjelm.

After a year without substantial consultation KAP State Leader Rob Katter has urged the Government to finally open up a line of communication with licenced gun owners, in the wake of the biggest firearms reform since the Howard era.

Images of a sprawling nature sanctuary, thousands of baby tree buds and waterbirds flitting about a lagoon don’t often spring to mind when one pictures a shooting range. However, the SSAA Queensland Inc Shooting Complex Stewartdale, located in the scenic Ripley Valley south of Ipswich, is the rare exception. Perfectly located just less than an hour from the Brisbane airport, the Stewartdale property is home to the SSAA Ipswich Branch and a number of ranges spread across almost 1000 hectares.
